Romans 3:21-31

Righteousness through Faith

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:22-24

How many of you subscribe to a “Word of the Day” or “Word of the Week” app? For your information and potential interest, today’s word from Meriam-Webster (the day of writing this) is “Panoply.” It is a formal word that refers to a group or collection that is impressive either because of its size or because it includes so many different kinds of people or things.

There you go - some new knowledge to tuck away to impress someone with your vocabulary.

To carry on the idea of a word of the week, this week’s theme/word is “Righteousness.” What is righteousness? The dictionary says this: acting in accord with divine or moral law: free from guilt or sin. Essentially, in right standing.

This is one of the most amazing truths that we are made to have right standing with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us—we are free from guilt or sin. And we can live free from guilt and shame. We do this by putting our faith in Jesus and accepting the gift of forgiveness of our sins. Sin separates us from God, and we do not have righteousness on our own - only He can make us righteous by what Jesus did on the cross.

As you read these verses in the book of Romans take time to thank God for His great love shown to you by making you right with Him.
