Psalm 1
What do you think about most? Maybe you spend a lot of time thinking about your problems. Maybe you think about your future and what you want it to look like.
An anonymous writer once wrote, “I’m trying to think of how I can think of what I want to think about.” Our minds are always thinking—and sometimes overthinking.
We always have something on our minds. Sometimes, it’s a deep thought, and sometimes we might think about things that aren’t so deep.
Psalm 1 describes a person whose mind works differently. Verse 2 mentions a person whose “delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.”
Is your mind so full of worries, plans, or idle thoughts that you rarely think about God and His teachings found in the Bible? If we shift our thinking to going to God for the answers first, we will find more comfort and joy to hold on to.
Psalm 1 also says that those who delight in the Lord and think about His word will succeed in everything they do. Allowing God to be in your thoughts daily will strengthen your relationship with Him, and you will grow closer to Him.
Here is a prayer that you can pray today:
Jesus, help me think about you today. Please help me not give in to worrying or idle thoughts but remember your purpose and plan for me. Amen.
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
