1 Corinthians 12

Do you like receiving gifts? Who doesn’t?! Getting something special and new always feels good. But like most things, that gift will eventually wear out or break, become boring, or end up on the table at your next garage sale.

Some gifts, however, never grow boring, dull, or broken. These are gifts that God gives to His children. He doesn’t give us the latest and trendiest things. He gives us spiritual gifts—supernatural abilities—things we can do to help others and be used by Him.

How do you know what gifts you have? You can begin by looking at your desires. What do you like to do? Sing? Speak? Help others? God will sometimes use your own dreams and desires to serve Him, and these things can help you discover the gifts God has given you.

Sometimes, God will surprise you. A gift simply begins to develop. Suddenly, you may find that you have developed a desire and ability to do something you did not want or were not able to do before.

What gifts has God given you? How can you please him by using them?
