John 1:1-14

Light

Nothing like a power outage at night to remind us how much we depend on light. Light to see what’s ahead of us, around us, behind us, and what’s in those corners. And just the smallest amount of light can guide us out of trouble. In the book of John (chapter 1 and chapter 8 verse 12) Jesus is described as the light of the world. What do we typically use light for? Light guides us to safety and away from danger. We need to engage with the sense of sight to engage with light. By keeping our eyes on Jesus we are less likely to stray into paths that lead to confusion and despair. Instead, His light leads us toward truth, hope, and eternal life.

Read through John 1:1-14 a couple of extra times, asking God to reveal to you in a fresh way, Jesus- the light of the world.
