2 Samuel 12:1-7

“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” (Luke 8:17)

The goal of hide and seek, if you're the one hiding, is to remain hidden the longest. But even the best 'hiders' in the best hiding spots are eventually found.

It's natural for us to want to hide from God when we break one of His laws. In fact, hiding was the gut reaction of Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God (Genesis 3). The problem is that you can't hide from God.

God is 'omniscient' (all-knowing) and 'omnipresent' (always present). So not only does God know where you're hiding, but He's present with you in your hiding!

It's futile to try and hide from the Lord. Sin grows in the dark, but when exposed to the light, it loses its power and holds over us. We can be so afraid of what we're trying to hide coming out into the light, but dark is light to God (Psalm 139:12), and God wants you to be free from the guilt or shame that has a grip on your heart. Why? Because God is a good father who loves you. He doesn't want you to suffer over your secret sin any longer.

Today, is there something you need to confess to God? Is there someone you need to be honest with? Have the courage today to stop hiding from God and begin healing.

1The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, "There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.

"Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him."

David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, "As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity."

Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. (2 Samuel 12:1-7)
