2 Samuel 11
In the opening verse of 2 Samuel 11, we read of King David being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was supposed to be out with his army at war, but instead, he negated his responsibilities and, for lack of a better term, 'checked out.'
So many of the things that we regret in life happen when we spiritually check out, when we don't guard our hearts, what we watch, or what we say. So many of the things that we regret happen at the end of the day when we're tired or during a draining season of our life when our guards are down, and we make compromised decisions.
Scripture tells us this:
“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it." (Genesis 4:7)
And:
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
Be encouraged today to remain spiritually alert!
