Perspective
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
No doubt the theme of “fixing your eyes on Jesus” in this week’s devotions hasn’t been lost on you. Fixing our eyes on Jesus has several practical biblical examples. And on top of that, there is no shortage of anecdotes on the importance of what you focus on.
In 2 Corinthians chapter 4 and part of chapter 5 it takes what we’re to focus on to another level. When we focus more and more on Jesus, we begin to see life from an eternal perspective. Our challenges and successes are viewed in light of God’s bigger plan, which helps us prioritize what matters. This perspective frees us from being overly concerned with worldly pressures and helps us live with the hope and purpose that come from knowing Jesus. Gaining an eternal perspective takes an intentional shift not only in mindset but in heart posture as well. It’s part of maturing in your faith in Jesus.
Take a personal inventory of where you are at with this and ask God to continue to grow the eternal perspective in you as you intentionally keep your eyes on Jesus.
